5 Shore spots for a great summer breakfast

When it comes to breakfast, there are two kinds best suited for summer.

The first is fast, maybe a grab-and-go sandwich of pork roll, egg and cheese, or a smoothie. These are for the mornings you are itching to claim your spot on the sand.

The second kind, the sit-down breakfast, is for the days you have nowhere else to be. You can take your time with the menu then watch the morning unfold over a second cup of coffee.

No matter which breakfast you choose, the Shore has plenty of options. Here are just a few of many great places to start your day.

Toast, Asbury Park and Red Bank

Sweet, salty, healthy, decadent – this pair of restaurants has it all.

Plus pancakes – lots of pancakes.

If you’re craving a simple breakfast, try a bowl of steel-cut oats with grilled bananas or potatoes and eggs. For something a little more inspired, there’s stuffed French toast, corned beef hash and eggs,a  tofu scramble, and grilled cinnamon buns.

Toast also puts its own spin on disco fries, a New Jersey classic of fries topped with gravy cheese: They use cheese curds and cap the whole thing with two over-easy eggs.

And about the pancakes: For the times you just want a taste, Toast lets you order just one.
